Commercial Bank Forecasting: What Is the Economist's Role?

Article Abstract:

A survey was done to determine the role of the economist in forecasting. Certain forecasting techniques are apparently widely used for certain functions. The most widely used quantitative technique for deposit forecasting was multiple regression. About thirty per cent of the economists' forecasts used judgement only. Simultaneous use of management judgement was used with the forecasting techniques for each planning variable. The role of the economist is crucial to the forecasting process.

Plant forecasting at Burroughs

Article Abstract:

Burroughs Corp. develops factory forecasts to give its executives both a wide and restricted look at future operations in the factory. Managers use the forecasts to determine personnel planning, investment decisions, unit shipment changes, and plans for greater operating performance. Every year, the finance accountant will prepare the schedule of forecast review meetings.

Forecasting collaboration in the European grocery sector: observations from a case study

The usage of the Collaborative Planning, Forecasting and Replenishment process model, for a case study of information sharing during the forecasting of logistics as part of supply chain management by European groceries, is described.
