More uncertainties than usual are being faced by the computer and computer peripherals industries in 1999 than in previous years, but good sales and earnings growth are forecast both for 1999 and through the years 2002-2004. The approaching millennium and the Asian economy are two of the reasons for the uncertainty, but the continuing good US economic conditions and other factors bode well for this sector. Many stocks in this industry will outperform the market in 1999, and investors should find several with potential for the next three to five years.
