Specialty consulting is offering tailored business strategies to small- and medium-sized companies. For example, consolidation experts at Grant Thornton in Sydney, Australia, are converting their clients' individual vehicle dealerships into fewer units supported by service centers. Grant Thornton executives predict consolidation will continue through alliances between different divisions to meet consumer demand for a "one-stop shopping" approach.

Founder and chairman Chris Mason traces Mindshop's success back to the 1980s, when the Australian Government first licensed its programs for total quality management, export market planning, and world manufacturing.
