Danish voters reject EC's Maastricht unity treaty

Article Abstract:

Danish voters on Jun 2, 1992, refused to approve the European Community's (EC) Treaty on European Union developed at the 1992 EC meeting in Maastricht, the Netherlands. The rejection was considered serious because the treaty required the approval of all 12 EC member countries.

Italian voters reject ruling coalition

Article Abstract:

Sixteen political parties gained seats in the Italian Parliament in the general elections held Apr 5-6, 1992. The percentage of votes received by the Christian Democratic Party and its coalition partners fell from 53.7% in 1987 to 48.8% in 1992.

Canadian voters reject Charlottetown accord on constitutional reform

Article Abstract:

Canadians voted against constitutional reform on Oct 26, 1992, by a vote of 54.4% to 44.6%. The reform package was designed to settle the differences in the interests of Canada's territories, provinces and aboriginal peoples.
