Denmark voters approve EC's 'Maastricht' treaty

Article Abstract:

Some 56.8% of Danes voted in favor of the Maastricht treaty in a referendum on May 18, 1993. Police in Copenhagen, Denmark, shot at demonstrators protesting against the treaty, injuring at least 10 people.

Britain's Major survives Maastricht vote

UK Prime Minister Major won support for his policy on Europe by a vote of 319 to 316. Major was in favor of having the UK be a leader in helping to develop the European Community.

Irish voters approve EC Maastricht Treaty

An Irish referendum to approve the Treaty on European Union was passed by a two-to-one margin on June 18, 1992. A similar referendum in Denmark was defeated two weeks earlier.
