Do clothes really make the woman? The use of attire to enhance work performance

Article Abstract:

Twenty women administrative staffers at a midwestern university's school of business administration were interviewed about their choice of work attire. It was found out that women select their business outfit to match their organizational status/level, function, task and special events of a certain day. The choice of clothing also helps women perform their roles in the organization. These women spend a significant percentage of their time and energy in shopping and planning for the right type of clothing to wear to work. Appropriate dressing during workdays also entails emotional costs.
