Article Abstract:

With no formal shipbuilding education, Bob Clifford's innovations and management style have resulted in the emergence of Incat Tasmania as a major world player first in ferry building and later in catamaran building. In 1975, he broke all records to help the government by building two ferries and expanding the fleet. Incat is responsible for 10-20% of Tasmania's exports, and has a turnover of nearly $250 million.
