Effect of level of disaggregation on conjoint cross validations: some comparative findings

Article Abstract:

Pooled-data conjoint models will often be effective in predicting market shares when monotonic attributes are used. In these cases, either more of a good attribute or less of a bad attribute is always preferable. In cases wherein some or most of the attributes may be nonmonotonic, individual differences may be much more pronounced and data aggregation is found to be unable to predict holdout sample preferences and individual part-worth models.

On the rank-based selection strategy for the group interview problem

Article Abstract:

The rank-based selection strategy model is used to help reduce the expected rank of the chosen item or purchased product. The model works by simulating a consumer shopping at progressively larger stores in order to make the best purchase. The rank-based selection strategy is considered useful when the decision maker does not hold adequate information regarding the population distribution of values of the choices.
