Effects of erroneous estimation of activity durations on scheduling and dispatching a single project

Article Abstract:

The impact of inaccurate estimates of activity duration on two approaches to the management of resource-constrained projects was examined. Specifically, the performance of dispatching and scheduling policies under various project conditions were evaluated along with the effect of rescheduling. The results, which showed that rescheduling shortens project completion time, demonstrated that scheduling results in earlier project completion over heuristic dispatching rules.
