Facilitators of organizational innovation: the role of life-cycle stage

Article Abstract:

Data from 326 US high-technology firms was collected to judge how determinants of innovation vary among firms at different stages of development. Results show that stock incentives had a beneficial link with innovation among later-stage rather than early-stage firms. On the average, late-stage firms used fewer equity incentives. Later-stage firms may explore the possibilities of increasing innovativeness through differentiated financial incentives.
