Environmental uncertainty, organizational integration, and new product development effectiveness: a test of contingency theory

Article Abstract:

New product development (NPD) integration with marketing and customer needs are found to have distinct characteristics that need to be considered by managers when planning integration activities. Both NPD-marketing and NPD-customer integration are found to be effective means of increasing NPD success, but these two types of integration affect different aspects of NPD success and require careful planning.

New Product Development Performance and the Interaction of Cross-Functional Integration and Knowledge Management

Research shows that interaction effects are produced by combined research and development effects, including knowledge management and marketing integration. This finding is discussed relative to proficiencies in prototype development and product launch, along with design change frequency and technology core competency fit.
