February housing starts increase 2.5%

The Commerce Dept reported that housing starts rose by 2.5% in Feb 1993 and that starts on multi-family dwellings increased by 33%. Statistics on retail sales, price indexes, business inventories and industrial production are presented.

June trade gap hit five-year high

Article Abstract:

The seasonally adjusted merchandise trade deficit increased from $8.38 billion in May 1993 to $12.06 billion in June 1993, according to the Commerce Dept. The recession in Western Europe was the primary cause of the increase.

September housing starts rise

The Commerce Dept reported that housing starts increased 1.4% in Sep 1992. Construction starts on multi-family homes rose 2.2%, while starts on single-family dwellings increased 1.2%.
