Feng Shui and organisational consultancy

Article Abstract:

The ancient Chinese art of Feng Shui is attracting increasing interest in the modern world, including the business environment. Feng Shui concerns the organisation of the environment to allow better circulation of the life force Ch'i to achieve harmony and prosperity. Aspects of the Feng Shui philosophy, including the belief in interconnection, have relevance to modern business structures. The western consultancy approach of examining psychological processes within the business environment also has some similarity to Feng Shui despite having a different starting point.

Developing high-potential managers in an international business

Article Abstract:

Royal and Sun Alliance Group started a development programme in 1997. The programme resulted from a merger, which demanded a more international approach for managers. The company wanted to assist its future middle managers all over the world to prepare for career development within an international framework. The aims of the programme are being achieved, with a new chief executive at the helm, Bob Mendelsohn, who is keen to participate personally in future programmes.

Stress at work

Article Abstract:

Stress at work can only be cured by dealing with its causes rather than its consequences. Some solutions offered, such as hypnotherapy and massage, are only transitory in their effectiveness and fail to treat the cause of the problem. Stress management in organisations should address issues such as the psychological processing work and promote appropriate levels of support so that staff can become more creative and effective.
