New forms of computerized mobile communications equipment are helping industries and individuals accomplish day-to-day tasks more quickly and efficiently. Some of the new offerings are mobile computers, digital phone and data organizers, multimedia functions, internet connections, and electronic pens. The devices are assisting with computer tasks, navigation, stock control, finance, and on-site services.

Dummy run cashes in on old-fashioned medium

Patrick McGovern's IDG is the world's largest Information Technology publishing house. It is valued at $2 billion dollars. McGovern sees electronic publications as the way of the future and the company invested $60 million in them. While that area is growing slowly the company Dummy series has provided $100 million in profit already. McGovern's growth strategy and plans are discussed.

The Encyclopedia Britannica learns something its researchers missed

Article Abstract:

Encyclopedia Britannica has been slow responding to the Internet revolution because the firm's officials stubbornly clung to the fact that they were book publishers. However, the publisher has introduced some online products, such as the Britannica Internet Guide. The firm has also cut the prices on its online encyclopedia and has unbundled it from a bigger package.
