Executives Laura Izza and Angelo Cianciosi talk about their company, Telecom Italia Mobile S.p.A., its products, the number of employees and the sales volume. The company's forecasting function is performed by the Marketing, Planning and International Service Department, which is run by six employees. The department produces short term forecasts, which are used for marketing purposes and inventory control, and long-term forecasts, which are used for strategic planning.

Questions on the forecast environment, data and system should be raised to improve the forecasting process. These questions can reaffirm the current process and provide insights that lead to action and improvement. Good forecasts can be made by having a precise understanding of what makes up the historical data used in preparing forecasts. A thorough understanding of the business is also essential in providing effective forecasts and market analyses.

Forecasting at Segix, Italia: a pharmaceutical company

Article Abstract:

Segix Italia marketing head Giusepee Pancio believes that sales forecasting is an effective tool in management processes. At Segix, Pancio uses forecasting techniques for market analysis. Data provided by the IMS allows Segix to determine the appropriate volume of inventory that should be maintained in its warehouses. Sales personnel also play a major role in the forecasting process.
