GM's strategy in Mexico may skew jobs numbers

Article Abstract:

General Motors Corp.'s workers at its Flint, Michigan assembly plants said that they have gone on strike in order to prevent the car maker from transferring more jobs to Mexico and other poor countries. However, economists, along with industry experts and GM officials, claim that the company's restructuring that brought about the tranfer of labor-intensive jobs to Mexico has been completed. The drop in jobs in the US is more related to GM's efficiency drive.
