Gassed up to go foreign: Australia is preparing to enter the top end of the global gas industry but almost everything except gas will be brought in from overseas

Article Abstract:

Shell Oil is about to embark on significant gas industry projects in Australia, which may or may not be good for the country. The development costs of the natural gas projects will amount to about $26 billion, which will result in one dominant company being in charge of the bulk of gas liquefaction and export from Australia. Shell Oil has the technical ability, the financial resources and the marketing expertise to handle such large projects.
