NCR wins data-warehouse contracts with Web firms, cracking new market

Article Abstract:

NCR Corp. announced that it has won data-warehousing contracts with various big Internet-based firms, including Travelocity.com Inc., MatchLogic and E*Trade Group Inc. NCR anticipates that its data-warehousing business grew 30% during the first quarter, and is likely to reach 20% for the entire year.

Oracle hired firm to probe Microsoft allies

Article Abstract:

Oracle Corp. has acknowledged that it hired Investigative Group International Inc., a detective agency, to investigate allies of Microsoft Corp. and to uncover and publicize internal documents regarding political activities by Microsoft. Oracle justified the move, saying that it was imperative to reveal Microsoft's tactics in that firm's effort to fight the Justice Department's antitrust suit against it.

IBM signs joint marketing agreement in deal with software vendor Vignette

Article Abstract:

IBM and software maker Vignette Corp. have contracted to sell and promote each other's products. IBM, in signing this and other deals with applications software companies, agrees to stay out of the applications business, but anticipates revenues to reach $8 billion over the next three years. IBM also will provide non-compete technology to its partners' customers.
