IT boss tells how he will get it right

A Jan 1998 policy statement will state the Australian government's commitment reforms intended to allow the country to perform well in the electronic age. Don Mercer, chairman of the National Office of the Information Economy, believes that the statement indicates the government's readiness to meet the challenges that the information technology revolution poses.

Off campus and into the Telstra fire

Article Abstract:

David Moffatt, formerly of GE Capital Australia, will take over as chief financial office of Telstra, in March 2001. Australian-born Moffatt worked for Palmer Tube Mills and GE Capital in the US before returning to GE Capital Australia, which he turned into a $6 billion company with divisions in auto leasing, mortgage insurance, and credit-card insurance.
