Idiosyncratic milieus of entrepreneurial research: the need for comprehensive theories

Article Abstract:

The lack of data sources on entrepreneurship requires researchers to draft several alternative theories for testing and to adopt methods used in other disciplines such as epidemiology, criminology, history, archeology and paleontology. They could use these methods directly or metaphorically to clarify certain entrepreneurial events and processes. Among the research topics with limited data are consistently entrepreneurial firms, habitual entrepreneurs, business angels, business failures and the emergence of new industries.
