Industry environments and new venture formations in U.S. manufacturing: a conceptual and empirical analysis of demand determinants

Article Abstract:

A large sample of manufacturing industries was examined empirically, using multiple linear regression, to establish the effect of demand factors on determinants of new venture formations in manufacturing industries. Empirical analysis showed a substantial negative relationship between entry barriers and new venture formations. It explains the role of organizational inertia in limiting business firms from exploring emerging opportunities and going into new venture formations.

To agree or not to agree? Consensus and performance in new ventures

Article Abstract:

The hypothesis which states that consensus by top management on strategic goals results in better performance for firms is analyzed using new business ventures. Existing studies on the relation between the management consensus and performance have yielded ambiguous results. Results for new business ventures confirm previous studies and do not show top management consensus to be a factor determining firm performance.
