Innovative Spark From Uncle Sam

Article Abstract:

A wall that many business start-ups encounter is funding and the creative tactics which can be employed to obtain monies needed to keep a venture afloat. Featured is a way of getting financial assistance from a federal initiative called the Small Business Innovation Research(SBIR) program. The phases of the plan is highlighted and an example is offered from a businessman who has taken advantage of this little-known financial resource.

State government programs are a source of funds for starting or expanding a small business. In Iowa the Community Economic Betterment Account provides matching funds to communities for business loans. Tips on getting funds from a state program are included.
