The world economy in 2007

Article Abstract:

The global output is forecast to expand at an average of 2.8% annually from 1999 to 2007. The figure, which is one percentage lower than the long-term trend rate of global output and projection made in 1997, is indicative of the anticipated slowdown of growth in industrial economies and recession in emerging economies. Increased divergence in economic growth and inflation across regions and economic regions are expected for the long term. Forecasts on fiscal policy, monetary policy, energy prices, long-term interest rates, exchange rates are discussed.

International economic outlook

Article Abstract:

The German Ifo Institute conducted the recent Economic Survey International (ESI) among 400 business leaders from 66 countries to gain a clear understanding about the current worldwide economic trends. It found that the current global economic climate is way below the "satisfactory" threshold. In Japan, for instance, it was noted that recovery from the economic crisis will take some time, at least six months, when the investment and consumption are expected to increase.
