Introduction to the special issue on innovative data sources for empirically building and validating theories in operations management

Article Abstract:

Case studies and the survey are the most widely used research methodology in operations management but there are new data sources such as laboratory study and customer comment data that can be used as another approach. Dependence on a few methodologies affects the body of knowledge that the research field creates as well as the scope of its research topics. An analysis of conventional and innovative data sources is presented.
