Professionals whose jobs depend on statistical data often draw conclusions blindly from widely used statistical techniques and parameters such as the standard deviation and the mean. Researchers should always be aware that these methods are premised on assumptions that can not possibly apply to all situations. Forecasters should carefully analyze statistical results and monitor developments in the field formethods that yield more accurate and reliable results.

Assessing joint maintenance shops in the Taiwanese Army using data envelopment analysis

Article Abstract:

A different data envelopment analysis (DEA) approach for examining the functioning of joint maintenance shops (JMSs) in the Taiwanese army above two 6-month periods in 2000 is suggested. The likelihood of utilizing DEA as a foundation for incessant improvement is also studied. The implementation of DEA at JMSs in Taipei, Taoyuan, Taichung, Chaiyi and Kaoshiung showed increased efficiency. The Army admitted DEA as a performance measurement system for JMSs.
