J&B tries humor to woo a younger set

Article Abstract:

Madison, Wis., dudes freelanced for Madison Ave. helping to create print ads for J&B Scotch. The normally stuffy image for Scotch whiskey is getting the irreverent touch in order to entice younger males to give up beer for Scotch. The graffiti look of the ads might just accomplish that. J. Walter Thompson is the J&B ad agency that hired the freelancers from Wisconsin. Many of the ads include a message about responsible drinking.

Dark antismoking ad turns networks off

Article Abstract:

CBS is the television network brave enough to air the new antismoking PSAs that NBC and ABC won't. Comedy Central is also airing them, but not CNN or TBS Superstation. One example of the announcements that are meant to turn off kids to smoking is 'ventilator lady,' in which a swim suit model is lying on the beach hooked up to a lung ventilator. CNN said that the content of the PSAs was "great. It just wasn't our style."
