Representatives from 171 nations met Jun 14 to Jun 25, 1993, to discuss human rights issues. The World Conference on Human Rights recommended that the UN create a High Commissioner for Human Rights and investigate violence against women. Some Asian and Moslem nations dissented.

U.N. climate conference held in Berlin; global-warming curbs sought by 1997

The Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change met Mar 28-Apr 7, 1995, to follow up on issues discussed at the 1992 Earth Summit. The conference adopted a specific timetable for countries to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
