TALES OF THE CITY

Article Abstract:

TBWA/Chiat/Day has reformatted its office in Playa Del Rey, CA, from a virtual office with no personal space to Advertising City, a fantastical indoor environment intended to foster creativity. The space, which occupies a warehouse, has an indoor cluster of trees, signs and buildings with elements reminiscent of the film, "Logan's Run." Chairman and Chief Executive Lee Glow stated that he wanted TBWA employees to feel as though they worked for a very creative company.

Trying to Reinvent the Wheel

Article Abstract:

The advertising industry is attempting to redefine itself in the late 1990s as many of the old definitions of advertising seem no longer to be relevant, and there are many new models for agencies to follow. The unbundling of creative services, globalization, and consolidation are some of the issues which many ad agencies must deal with. More money is being poured into promotions, interactive services and direct marketing by clients as well.
