Managerial influences on intraorganizational information technology use: a pincipal-agent model

Article Abstract:

A principal-agent model was developed to illustrate the influence of managers in promoting intraorganizational information technology (IT) usage. The model, which is capable of outlining guidelines that can be utilized by managers in improving an organization's use of IT, revealed that promotion of IT use within an organization can be attained through provision of incentives and control structures. The model showed that the efficiency of control structures relies on potential users' capability to differentiate several types of incentives and control.

Managerial use of debt to fund municipal government risks

Article Abstract:

The optimal bond model is an effective tool for cost-effective structuring of debts and evaluating trade-offs in managerial decision making. Self-insurance plans are found to show substantially lower costs than conventional insurance. Managerial objectives and risk preferences appear to have an influence over decision when revenue flows are inadequate to finance expected losses.

Organizing for global competition: the fit of information technology

Article Abstract:

Many companies now operate globally, and they need efficient information technology to access information anywhere and at any time. One study on global IT based its results on how the structure of an organisation affects its IT use. The researchers feel that it would be equally valid to consider how IT affects company vision and planning. Other research has shown that IT may have a poor fit with company structures but may be responsive to outside variables.
