Article Abstract:

Investment companies in Australia have raised substantial amounts in recent public issues. Consequently, they have substantial funds at their disposal for investment. However, Australian markets do not offer lucrative investment opportunities, because of which, these investment companies are looking at investment opportunities outside the country. A list of investment companies and the quantum of funds available with them for investments is presented.

Optic nerves

Simon Fleming, director at the University of Sydney's Optical Fibre Technology Centre, and his associates have developed a new optical fibre technology for the broadband telecommunications. But the centre is looking for a big company, which will commercialize the technology entirely within Australia. The properties of the new technology are discussed.
