NBC to take part in Microsoft Network

Article Abstract:

General Electric Co's NBC unit and Microsoft are announcing a sweeping agreement that will result in NBC providing a wide range of programming for the Microsoft Network (MSN) online information service when it debuts later in 1995. Microsoft Chmn Bill Gates says NBC and Microsoft will collaborate on MSN content, but he did not give any further details about the agreement. Gates did say the agreement is not exclusive, leaving room for similar agreements with other providers. NBC will receive a modest cash influx from Microsoft to cover part of the costs associated with the partnership. It also announced it will discontinue its online business with America Online and Prodigy. NBC CEO Bob Wright says NBC will move its online activities exclusively to MSN for a while.
