N.J. Sen. Bradley declines reelection

Sen. Bill Bradley said he would not run for reelection in 1996, and is considering running for president as an independent candidate. He said he was tired of the fighting over legislation and the politics of Congress. The strength of Democrats in Congress is expected to weaken further.

Louisiana's Rep. Tauzin switches to GOP

Tauzin is the fifth representative to change parties since 1994, and the declining number of Democrats could reduce the party's strength in Congress. He supported the Republican Party's Contract with America and has been a conservative for some time.

Sex charges end Adams reelection bid

Article Abstract:

Senator Brock Adams ended his 1992 reelection campaign after eight women claimed that he had sexually abused them. The Seattle Times, which reported the accusations, refused to print the names of the women.
