New Software Package Links IBM PC to the Tower

Article Abstract:

TouchStone Software Corp.'s PCworks package allows an IBM PC or a PC-compatible micro to communicate with and transfer data to any Unix-based computer. The package provides four functions. The UNIX Mail-File Network allows the micro user to communicate with other PC and Unix systems users. The Terminal Emulator allows the PC user to interact with Unix systems in terminal mode. The UNIX Applications feature allows the user to run a menu of start-up sequences with a single keystroke. The PC Applications feature allows the user to run a menu of start-up sequences for DOS applications with one keystroke.

NCR Adds UNIFY DMS Package to Tower 1632

Article Abstract:

UNIFY Corp.'s UNIFY fourth-generation Unix-based relational data base management system (DBMS) is now available with NCR's Tower 1632 system. UNIFY allows applications to be developed without programming. The package also supports interactive data entry, a relational query language, a report writer, a data base update feature, and a data base load-unload feature.
