New - style super

Article Abstract:

The Federal government has finally paved way for introducing a new style of superannuation product, term allocated pension or growth pension which provides retirees to minimize tax on their retirement incomes and to maximize eligibility for government pensions. Macquarie Bank's divisional director in charge of technical services, David Shirlow's opinions are presented and the features of the new superannuation product are discussed.

New Australian laws allow splitting of superannuation when a married couple separates or divorces. Ten strategies are presented for splitting a super that save on taxes and maximize divorce laws, in cluding the creation of two tax-free thresholds.
