No Tariffs Says Industry

Article Abstract:

The Office Equipment Industry Association has reported to the Industries Assistance Commision (IAC), in response to an inquiry, that tariffs should not be placed on office equipment imported into Australia. Any assistance to Australian office equipment manufacturers should be in the form of bounties, and an allowance of forty per cent should be reinstated for investments. These measures would encourage lower prices and greater use of office equipment. The IAC has found difficulties in categorizing new multipurpose complex electronic equipment.

Variable royalty rates for improving franchise channel coordination

Article Abstract:

A study was conducted on a model that supports the use of a variable franchise royalty rate for extending optimal sales volume. Results showed that a variable royalty rate can be used by a franchisor to improve sales level. Generally, the increase in sales generated using a new rate is less than half of the original rate when the quadratic cost function is applicable, and less than the original rate when the cost of function is convex.
