An East Lansing, MI, prosecutor on Mar 5, 1993, decided not to charge retired doctor Jack Kevorkian with murder for the role he played in the suicide death of terminally ill Hugh Gale. Kevorkian set up a device consisting of an air mask and canister of carbon monoxide for Gale to use to kill himself.

Article Abstract:
Dr. Jack Kevorkian was acquitted on two charges of assisting two people commit suicide by a Michigan jury on Mar 8, 1996. The acquittal were based on a loophole in a now nonexisting law that banned suicide assistance by physicians. Court rulings on the issue are examined.
