Oh, what tangled web we weave: The state of privacy protection in the information economy and recommendations for governance

Article Abstract:

The federal and state laws that restrict data collection and distribution in the United States and their strengths and weaknesses in the face of rapid technological advancement are examined. This framework is used to explore the implications for a comprehensive overhaul of the statutory privacy policy and the consequences of maintaining the status quo in an era in which the existing statutes are effectively overwhelmed by the changing technology.

The spatial configuration of the entrepreneurial support network for the semiconductor industry

Article Abstract:

Geographical proximity was found to vary significantly between the entrepreneurial support network and the start-up firms they support, based on data from 44 initial public offerings in the semiconductor industry. In descending order, the actors in closest proximity to a firm were legal counsel, investment banks, venture capital entities, and independent directors.
