Organizational culture: it's not what you think...

Article Abstract:

A study was conducted to define the concept of organizational culture based on the perspectives of J. Martin (1992). Compared with organizational climate, organizational culture embodies three perspectives on culture studies that look upon organizations in a constant state of motion while identifying various organizational consistencies and conflicts. Studies on the culture of organizations also allow the use of proofs associated with observation, informants' reports and the researcher's involvement in the setting. Results showed that the hierarchical standing of organizational members are directly correlated with their cultural perspectives. They also indicated that value congruence is a critical factor influencing organizational success.

Managing organizational culture: compliance or genuine change?

Article Abstract:

There can be many difficulties associated with attempts to manage organizational culture. Research indicates that these efforts can produce a differential impact. It is clear that there is a possibility of increased management sophistication, but there is also evidence that employees have become more aware in their resistance to change and have developed better ways of dealing with it. It is possible that some employees cognitively accept management values in order to boost their career progression.
