Sustainability at Hewlett-Packard: from theory to practice

Article Abstract:

Hewlett-Packard Co. began incorporating environmentally sustainable practices as early as the 1980s, beginning with pollution prevention and control policies and adding aproduct stewardship program in the 1990s. This Environmental Product Stewardship program attempts to create a networked world where fewer objects have increased value.

Organizational support for employees: encouraging creative ideas for environmental sustainability

Article Abstract:

Results from employee surveys suggest line managers supporting environmentally sustainable policies increase employee willingness to cooperate with environmental initiatives. Line managers who receive recognition for achieving company environmental goals and who are invited to participate in policy-making dialogue will show improved motivation to care about the environment.
