Organizing in the knowledge age: anticipating the cellular form

Article Abstract:

Business history has evolved from the machine age since the industrial revolution into the information age and then the knowledge era. New organizational trends kept on emerging. Vertically integrated entities paved the way for network organizations. Companies try out a new way of organizing known as the 'cellular form.' Cellular organizations such as Technical and Computer Graphics and the Acer Group are founded on the principles of entrepreneurship, self-organization and member-ownership. This type will be used in an environment where learning and innovation are continuous.
