Over There: Looking Overseas for Investment Opportunities

Article Abstract:

Many American investors are turning to foreign investments as the stock market slows down in its bullish climb. The strength of the United States dollar has also led to increased purchasing of foreign stocks. The simplest and safest method of investing internationally is through mutual funds. International investments do have some risks. It is harder to monitor the performance of foreign investments. Inflation, political unrest and currency devaluations all can negatively influence foreign investments. Investment advisors suggest that foreign investments should only represent a portion of an investor's total portfolio.

A risky investment

Article Abstract:

Housing investments should be well-considereded moves. This recommendation came from Runzheimer International of Rochester, WI, which said that wrong decisions could result in big losses to the home-buyers. While real estate markets have grown though the 1980's, housing values have declined for 1991. A study revealed that home values in high-profile cities like Boston, MA, and New York, NY, have declined while those in Atlanta, GA, Chicago, IL, and Seattle, WA, have shown reliable growth.
