Article Abstract:

When it found it was losing its competitive edge, Ramsey National Bank of central Illinois, shed its conservative style for a more aggressive approach. As part of its new-found agressiveness, Ramsey National decided to automate. A key ingredient in that automation effort is NCR's Banker 80 software package. The package is used for several purposes, including totaling each loan category to monitor activity, calculating expenses, listing customers, figuring accrued earnings and liability on a daily basis, and preparing financial projections and reports. It is used by virtually all employees, from tellers to managers. Photographs of employees using the system are included.

IVAN-EDIT is a full-screen editor for run-buffered terminals. IVAN-SUBMIT is a automatic job scheduling system. IVAN-ACCESS is a VRX spool file access utility. IVAN-JSTAT is a VRX job status utility. The first two users of the packages are well satisfied with their performance. The software offers significant improvements over the old packages.

Alphamicro Inc.'s AM-610 VCR controller board allows users of S-100 bus-based systems to back up large capacity disks on video cassettes using any video cassette recorder (VCR) in Betamax, VHS, or any other format. According to Alphamicro, up to 106M bytes can be recorded at 4MHZ on a standard two- hour cassette. A 10M byte Winchester can be backed up in eleven minutes.
