Reasonable accommodations

Article Abstract:

Employees, as well as management, will be affected by the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990. Title I of the act states that a disabled coworker is entitled to reasonable accommodations that may require employee job changes. A survey by the Bureau of National Affairs in Washington, DC, showed, however, that 52% of respondent employees think such changes would only be fair. Only minor job changes for the purpose of accommodations are expected.

Everything within reason

Article Abstract:

Some pointers for companies on defending their executive compensation structures against the IRS are offered. Managers are thus urged to formulate a pay plan or an incentive plan for its executives that is an extension of the firm's pay philosophy, the executives' qualifications and comparable rates in the market. The key is to show that the company's compensation plan for its executives is the result of careful thinking and planning.
