"Serious Problems" at SBA

Article Abstract:

Michael Cardenas, the new administrator of the United States Small Business Administration (SBA), comes to the job armed with his own small business experience and with the commitment to work hard and try to change many of the problems he sees plaguing the SBA. Some of the problems he sees facing the agency include the image of catering to minority groups while excluding others, a budget cut due to President Reagan's controls of government spending, and unprofessional attitudes among those who work for the SBA. Cardanas plans to use his time, skills and authority to try and help the SBA provide quality assistance to the entire realm of small businesses throughout the country.

Structuring for limited liability

Article Abstract:

Eight states currently allow small businesses to operate as a limited-liability company. These laws shield a business owner from being held personally liable for the company's debt. Facing unlimited liability is a major deterrent to many who want to start a small business.
