Retailers can improve in-store promotions and sales by getting information on customer activity such as the areas they visit in stores, the time they spend on looking at products and the type of product, which is hard to track. Hutchison Telecommunications began opening retail outlets in 2003, with new technology such as remote-controlled plasma screens, but it is too early to view technology's direct effect on sales.

A telling profit

The housing boom made the Commonwealth Bank (CBA) strong which made a net profit from $1.2 billion for the six months to December 31; almost double the $622 million. The CBA breaks its operations into three businesses that are banking, funds management and insurance but a question is put forth as to whether a new customer service approach would make it more stronger or not.
