Skiers Write Own Lift Tickets With 1810 Terminals

Article Abstract:

Mammoth Mountain Ski Resort has installed NCR 1810 electronic terminals that are used for generating ski lift tickets. NCR worked with the Resort's D-P manager in developing the SkiLift applications software. Resort customers planning to use a credit card to purchase either full or half-day tickets can opt to use the terminals. About 10,000 skiers used the terminals after they were installed late in the 1982-83 season. Each terminal can handle 500 tickets at one time. Plugging in a development keyboard and switching over to the Multiple Realtime Executive (MRX) operating system, enables the D-P manager to modify existing applications and write new BASIC+ programs.
