Small business to the rescue

Article Abstract:

The growth of banks in the year 2004 is discussed. Though for most of the banks the home lending sector showed a decline, they managed to make up the deficit through increased funding to businesses and by managing funds to their wealth management businesses. The area that showed growth the most was the small-business sector. The percentage growth of small business profits and banks' profits is presented.

The Commonwealth Bank (CBA), National Australia Bank (NAB) is seeking new dimensions to survive the stiff competition as small business want better transaction services. The CBA launched its new retail electronic funds transfer product, XPOS while NAB has announced a flat fee structure for business transaction accounts.
