SoBe hopes edgy ads can induce masses to try its 'Lizard Fuel.'(South Beach Beverage to launch radio ads)(Advertising)

Article Abstract:

South Beach Beverage will soon launch radio ads for its off-beat, new-age drinks, called 'Lizard Fuel.' To date it has achieved record growth in its category solely through word of mouth and guerrilla advertising gimmicks. Sales hit 14.8 million cases in 1999, up from just one million cases in 1997. SoBe now hopes to generate more interest by stressing core lifestyle values over brand. Radio jingles will contain the tagline 'SoBe Yourself.' Ads were produced by Performance Media of Wilton, Connecticut.
