Strange Customs

One company found out that whether something is classified by the customs department as a toy or a practical joke can have a profound impact on the import duties charged. A company which imports rubber rats had to pay almost fifty percent more for import duty taxes because its rats, which had tails under six inches long, were classified as toys. To avoid this problem in the future the company is making certain that all rats have tails longer than six inches, so that they can be classified as a practical joke item and be eligible for a lower tax rate.

Non-contact sensors can offer more benefits than contact switching such as high switching frequencies, and high rates of environmental protection. They have no moving parts so are immune to virbation. Types of non contact switches include inductive proximity, which comprise an oscillator, trigger and output, capacitive switches for use in silos and filling processes and photoelectric sensores used in automation.
