AMP (Czech Republic), electrical engineering firm, saw a loss of 10.8 mil Kc under a turnover of 410 mil Kc in 1998. The firm is a branch of AMP (US), which plans to build a new production hall in Kurim, the Czech Republic. The hall with 1,500 employees will produce contacts and connectors for the car industry. AMP plans to extend its production further during the next few years.

A device called Autosub 1 may improve the limitations of oceanographic research, which include difficulty tracking ocean 'weather' changes due to the vastness and unmanned nature of the ocean. Autosub will independently roam the ocean, dive up to 6,000 meters, and resurface to transmit data to a satellite.
